Tamron SP 70-300mm
VC USD Zoom Lens! |
I have been
looking for a 300mm zoom lens
for 'casual use' at the zoo,
nature reserves
or
for hill walking.
I
have
been considering purchasing another 300mm
lens which would be more suitable for casual
use, more compact, lighter and certainly
less of an obstruction in social settings.
At the same time, I was also thinking about
replacing my Canon 450D with the Canon 600D
DSLR as the most likely suitable
replacement.
There
is
one lens that is getting rave reviews and
that is the Tamron SP 70-300mm f4-5.6 VC USD
Lens. It is supplied in Nikon and Canon
mounts.
I have read up on the lens and it appears
very capable for my purpose. At 300mm on the
zoom, it appears to deliver the optimum
image quality at f8 aperture which in good
light should not pose a problem for the
Canon 600D or a Nikon D7000 DSLR for that
matter.
I would expect the lens to be slower at
autofocus at f8 in poorer light conditions
but I can accept this considering that the lens
is aimed at the 'consumer' marketplace.
Photozone
have a review out with the lens tested on a
'full frame' sensor body!

There appears to be more information on the
'Gear' Forums regarding this lens and they
are well worth reading up on.
