I purchase
most of my photographic equipment over the Internet. In 2006 (when I
started) I learned very quickly to reduce the 'limit of risk' when
making internet purchases!
I suffered a few bad experiences with Internet Suppliers who failed to
deliver the goods and I was forced to recover my money by reporting the
incident to my bank who refunded it via their VISA Debit Card insurance
scheme. On another occasion I had one individual who purchased goods for
himself using my card details and again my bank covered the loss
although I had to wait 2 weeks for a new card and pin number.
Special
Bank Accounts
Like most folks, I have the usual MAIN (Internet) Current Bank Account with all my
direct debits and income and outgoings.........I never use the bank card
associated with this MAIN account........it is locked away in a safe.
I decided to set-up a 2nd current bank account for my 'everyday street
and internet purchases'. I have a Debit 'Visa' Card for this 2nd current
account and this is what I use to make all my purchases.
Recently I experienced a fraud on my 2nd current account card and my
bank voided the card..........it was 2 weeks before I received a new
card and pin. I now have a 3rd current account card purely as a backup
for any internet and everyday use.
Over the
last few years I have used several UK Internet Suppliers and I have
listed within this articles page the ones I have confidence in. I prefer
internet suppliers with a computerised method of payment (although there are exceptions) at time
of order.
