Christopher
Cross & Great Images - On my grandson's 1st birthday, I got to thinking about his grandmother, my 'second wife'.
I went way back to our honeymoon in France; we had very little money and
we sat on high stools watching a toy train on it's little tracks
bringing our drinks along the counter in this tiny Parisian café.
In the background, music was playing and it was real smooth. It clasped
the moment, entre deux coeurs qui s'aiment, nul besoin de paroles (two
hearts in love need no words).
I never forgot the music and when we returned home, I did some
searching, bought the vinyl and the cover simply stated - Christopher
Cross.
I often play the same track that I heard that night
and it is really nice to revisit that moment in the café
in Paris.
Sergei Vasilievich
Rachmaninoff
(1 April 1873 – 28 March 1943) was a Russian composer, pianist, and
conductor. Rachmaninoff is widely considered one of the finest pianists
of his day and, as a composer, one of the last great representatives of
'Romanticism' in Russian classical music.
In one of my romantic moments, I gave my 'second
wife' a porcelain music box which played music that we both
love.............Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini Op. 43: Variation
XVIII. It is also the theme tune to a great 'movie' called
Somewhere in Time
a love story with the late Christopher Reeve and
the lovely Jayne Seymour.
Anyway a short clip of some nice images accompanied by some peaceful music -
it starts of slow and soft with the 'bite' in the middle and if you are
a true romantic, it will strike deep -
Freddie Young
- I have long admired the 'cine photography' of Freddie Young who had a
long and distinguished career crowned with Oscars for three consecutive
films directed by David
Lean
between 1962-1970. Awarded OBE (Officer of the Order of the British
Empire) in 1970.
In
this video of 'Lawrence of Arabia' just pause it anywhere and you
will see Freddie's magic in the 'still' image. His vision of the scene,
every scene is quite incredible............he died in 1998 aged 96.
For something completely
different, I have included a video link to a clip from 'The Bandwagon' a
great musical that includes this scene with Fred Astaire and the
beautiful Cyd Charisse who sadly passed way in 2008. She had the 1
million dollar legs and her husband knew when she had been dancing with
Gene Kelly as she would come home covered in bruises! It's a pity the
end of the scene is not in the video as her 'prancing style' is shown to
even greater effect!
Relax with Smooth Music and Great Images' - If you are into
'Smooth Jazz' just listen to this.........kill the adverts in the video and check
it out!
'Sunsets' - Everyday, I usually
check out
IMDb just to see who is in the 'celebrity' news but mainly to see if any
of my 'old' heroes have died. I am slowly running out of them and sadly
they soon will all be gone.
Anyway I was checking out the BORN TODAY section and saw Doug McCLure who
then led me to Troy Donahue. Did you know that the the two names made up the character Troy McCLure from The Simpson's and then
I found the lovely Sandra Dee; all were actors from the
1950s. Eventually I ended up being reminded about 'A Summer Place', the
movie and the music!
So finally here are some beautiful images of 'sunsets' to the music of 'A
Summer Place'...........enjoy!
William & Kates Alternative Wedding - A bit of
